Do Arrest Records Appear in Criminal Background Check?
|
|
Many people are worried about applying for certain employment positions because they do not know if their arrest records will appear on their criminal background check. Although they may not have been convicted of a crime or even held in jail for more than a few hours, but being arrested means that their fingerprints are on file with the police department and the arrest record never goes away. The truth is that for a criminal background check arrest record information is generally not included unless it is for employment with a federal agency or for an employment position that requires unusually high security. For the majority of jobs in the private sector, the only thing that potential employers are concerned about is whether the person has been convicted of any felony offenses in recent years. This is not to say that you shouldn't be honest when asked about your past by a potential employer because there is no telling what they may find as they dig into your past. Although your arrest records will show up on highly detailed background checks conducted on your past, you should not be worried about your arrest records disqualifying you from very many employment positions in the future.
